Gifts considered traditionally romantic such as candies and flowers are great, but sometimes you need something that goes one step further. If your spouse enjoys flowers, you do not have to settle for roses because they can sometimes become unexciting after a while! Present the person with something completely original like a daisy or another flower in which, you can count the petals. Ask the person to play the childhood game of ‘they love me, they love me not’ and watch them pluck the petals as they go. However, do not allow for the possibility of the person arriving at the ‘they love me not’. Count the petals before you present the flower to your spouse and trim it so that there is an odd number of petals for the right outcome!

Arts and crafts used to be a fun break from the monotony of the school day but believe it or not, it will come in handy when it comes to creative romantic gestures. Instead of promising that you will love the person forever, show them. Take a piece of paper, ribbon, or other material you choose and write “I love you” on both sides from end to end. Twist the material 180 degrees and connect both ends of the paper until you have made what looks like figure eight. Tape or glue to material together. You can present your love with a symbol that shows them your love for them is an endless love.

Creativity comes in many different forms! Being creative can mean creating an atmosphere. Shut down the electricity and imitate a power outage without telling the other person if you have budget concerns or you do not want to leave the house. An ultimate romantic evening is not just all grandeur, after all. You will not have any distractions or heat, so it is up to both of you to keep the other warm and entertain each other.

Maybe romance is on your mind, but the person is going out of town. Did you know that people on airplanes are typically hopeless romantics? Any flight attendant would be more than happy that your spouse receives a special present after the flight has left the ground. Approach a crew member after the person boards the plane. They are usually more than happy to oblige a hopeless romantic like you! (You might want to make sure that the gift is unwrapped or keep it to a single rose due to heightened security.)

Creativity does not have to come in the form of gifts every single time. Gestures like getting up and dancing with your spouse when a favorite song comes on the radio are also creative and incredibly romantic! Whenever the mood strikes you, allow your creative juices to flow!

Romantic Candles. Get the kind of candles that come in their glass jar with a lid. They are safer than tall candles, won’t spill wax all over the place. When you put the cover on, they go out without filling the room with smoke. Choose scented candles with mild scents like vanilla or melon – or your wife’s favorite scent. Here’s a romantic idea: light them all around the living room – at night, get a relaxing drink and sit on the couch and talk with her – run your fingers through her hair as you talk – and don’t “expect” any action – if you remove the pressure, she will relax and come after you!

Romantic “I love you” Cards. Get about 15 different “thinking of you” and “I love you” greeting cards. Then – over a few months, whenever you have the idea of leaving one in her purse or car or mailing one to her work, you can do it before you forget. Just write a short personal note in each when you send it. Here’s a romantic idea: send her a card a day for a week and then personally bring flowers to her at work at the end of the week as a romantic surprise. She’ll love it!

Romantic Bubble Bath. Get a scented bubble bath for your wife – but don’t give it to her – yet. The cucumber and melon scents are relaxing. Romantic idea: make her a bath, use the romantic bubble bath and put some romantic candles (above) around the tub. Then, leave and let her enjoy some peace (unless she asks you to join her). She’ll melt with relaxation.

Romance Incense. Incense can make your home smell nice and create a relaxing atmosphere. Some incense is really powerful – I don’t like those. I get the Angelic Series from Shoyeido Corporation – they are mild and romantic scents. My wife loves them – and the gift box set from the last series has lasted us over 3 years now.

A Blanket can be Romantic. Keep a blanket in your trunk. That way, you can do spontaneous romantic excursions like stopping, laying on the blanket, and looking at the stars on a clear night, or enjoy relaxing under a tree on a warm day.
Your Romantic Cell Phone. Yes – your cell phone can be romantic – call her out of the blue to say hi and “I love you.” Romance idea: send her loving text messages at random times in the week.

Try to do something small two or three times a week for her – such as a card or note or a call or e-mail. Try to do something medium for her at least once a week – such as bring home flowers or make a nice dinner. Then, try to do something big for her at least once a month – a full evening without kids that include a nice dinner, a bath, and a massage – all truly from your heart with no obligations attached. Mix it up – make nothing routine.

Go a week or two without doing anything romantic except calling or e-mailing to keep in contact. Then start romancing her again. She’ll appreciate it more that way – it won’t be the same ol’ thing.

Romantic feelings change perception. One who had never thought of reading poetry begins writing one. That is romance. One who is in romantic love will have no complaints with the world. Even if the traffic does not move for hours, the romantic lover excuses everyone. That is romance.

There are many emotions, and most of us experience all of them except romance. We all encounter emotions such as anger, nervousness, sadness. But only a few experience romance. There is a famous story in India about two romantic lovers. Laila and Majnu. Laila was the princess, and Majnu was the son of a washerman. Once, it so happened that Majnu’s father asked him to deliver clothes to the palace. There Majnu happened to see Laila. He fell madly in love with her. Since that day, he forgot everything, including food, and was only asking for Laila. Some days passed, and this news that Majnu had gone mad in love with Laila reached the king. The king asked his Prime Minister about what could they could do to help Majnu in this distress. The Prime Minister suggested that if Majnu wanted to buy anything from any shop, he could buy it for free. The palace would pay the shopkeeper.

The news brought in many new Majnus. They bought things and behaved like the original. The palace started getting bills in plenty. The king was more worried now and again consulted his Prime Minister. The suggestion was simple – declare that Majnu will be killed after seven days by the palace. This announcement made all the actors run away for their life. Only the original Majnu was left out. He had no care for his life.

This made the king think again. He got Majnu married to Laila. Majnu got Laila because he wanted nothing except her. His own life was worthless for him. What mattered was only Laila. That is what you call romance.

Creating romantic moments is so easy it’s a wonder every man in the world does not “get” this. All you have to do is think of an activity built around something she likes to do. Does she like shopping (not something men even like to think about), fine dining, walks on a beach, watching movies, and the list goes on.

It’s all about doing something she likes with her. What will make such activities seem even more romantic to her is if you choose to do something she likes to do with her when a ball game is on TV that you could be watching with your buddies. She will feel chosen. And that, sir, is VERY romantic indeed.
